Dell XPS 9720 17" (3840x2400) Touch Laptop (2023 New) Review

The 2023 Dell XPS 17 model 9730 is a refresh of last year's model, featuring the same chassis but with upgraded components. It remains a 17-inch thin and light laptop, but now it packs a new CPU and GPU, offering a level of power comparable to some mobile workstations. While there are not many significant changes from the previous model, the new processor and graphics make it a solid performer.

The laptop still offers two display options: a Full HD Plus non-touch matte screen or a glossy 4K Plus touch display with IPS or EXO technology. The 4K display is praised for its impressive color accuracy and saturation. The keyboard is backlit in white and has a short travel distance, while the trackpad is large, similar to the MacBook Pro.

As for connectivity, it features USB-C/Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, a USB-A port, a full-size SD card slot, and a headphone jack. However, it lacks Wi-Fi 6E support and has Wi-Fi 6 instead, which might be due to space limitations in the chassis.

Performance-wise, the XPS 17 is designed for prosumers and content creators, offering Intel 13th generation Core i7 and i9 H-series processors, as well as Nvidia RTX graphics up to the 4080 model. The laptop incorporates a vapor chamber for cooling, resulting in good thermal management and quiet fan noise during heavy usage.

Battery life is reasonable, especially considering the high-resolution 4K display. It can last around 6 to 8 hours depending on usage patterns.

Overall, the Dell XPS 17 for 2023 remains an excellent option for content creators who seek a large, high-quality display, powerful performance, and a relatively portable form factor. It competes well with the 16-inch MacBook Pro for those who prefer the Windows ecosystem.

The Pixel Tablet: A Blend of Tablet and Smart Home Hub

In the fast-evolving world of technology, the Pixel Tablet stands out as an intriguing blend of a tablet and a smart home hub. Ten years ago, the tablet market was brimming with variety, with iPads and Android tablets engaged in fierce competition. Google's Nexus tablets, such as the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, added to the vibrant ecosystem. However, Google seemed to lose its way with Android tablets and Chrome OS tablets, leading to a decline in their production, eventually giving up on the category altogether. In the meantime, the smart home display category gained momentum, driven by Google's acquisition of Nest. This trend led Google to a unique idea: if smart home displays are essentially inexpensive tablets, why not create a cheap tablet that can double up as a smart home hub? And thus, the Pixel Tablet was born. While it may not boast premium fe
